Science: Blood Components
Recently, we have focused on understanding the human circulatory system, as part of our science topic, Animals Including Humans, specifically exploring the heart, lungs, and different components of blood. To bring this topic to life and engage the children in hands-on learning, we conducted a fascinating experiment in class.
In this experiment, the children created representations of blood and its components using everyday materials. We used food dye to illustrate plasma, Cheerios cereals to represent red blood cells, marshmallows to mimic white blood cells, and spiky balls to depict platelets. This interactive approach helped students visualise and understand the functions of each component in the blood clearly.
The children were enthusiastic and curious throughout the activity, which significantly enhanced their learning experience. It was wonderful to see them engage with the topic with such excitement and interest.
